Our team named Best Supplier Overall at Schneider Electric’s Europe Supplier Day (June 2022)
On 14 and 15 June, our partner Schneider Electric held its 2022 Europe Supplier Day. This year’s event was all about Partners for Quality. The event that gathered around 150 of Schneider’s suppliers was an opportunity to reflect and generate ideas on quality, co-innovation, cost competitiveness and sustainability of the supply base.
On this occasion, Schneider Electric Executive Leadership team rewarded its key suppliers and partners for their contribution and achievements in the Global Supply Chain via innovation, quality, responsiveness, production efficiency or sustainability, to name but a few.
And ArcelorMittal Steel Service Centres Europe was awarded the title of "Best Supplier Overall”. An award that makes us proud and is a tribute to all the efforts made by our teams in Sales, Supply Chain and Product development to provide the best quality services and products.
Thanks again, Schneider Electric, for this award and for your long-term trust and cooperation and, above all, congratulations to our SSC teams!
Successful first organic coated trial on an Automotive blanking line at SSC Woippy (June 2022)
Last month our team in Woippy performed the very first test of organic coated decoiling and shearing on a line dedicated to automotive blank. The objective was to show that a blanking line dedicated for automotive (mainly car visible areas) could also process organic coated coils. Organic coated process is mainly used in the industry such as building and construction or for a lot of applications in general industry.
The good results of the test (no pollution between blanks, no impact on the shiny aspect, burr, marks or scratches) are very encouraging for the development of Woippy that could become the Group’s prototyping center for both Automotive and Industry.
This test gave us the green light to start putting in place actions to improve organic coated processing, as well as allowing our people to acquire new skills about processing steels (some of which we are the only ones to process).
Working day at Neuwied to discuss digital transformation and pricing power in steel distribution (May 2022)
On 12 May 2022 was held the EUROMETAL* SSC Regional Meeting for Austria, BENELUX & Germany in our steel service centre of Neuwied (Germany).
Welcomed by our CEO Jean-Marc Butin, and Michael Nonn, chief operating officer, the participants, all professionals from the sector, gathered for a half day of reflection and discussion about the challenges the steel distribution and steel service center businesses have to face.
Jean-Marc Butin introduced our tailor-made solutions of flat carbon processed products, followed by Michael Nonn presenting the case of Neuwied and its developments. Valentin Kaltenbach, CEO of Kaltenbach.Solutions, tackled the challenge of digital transformation in steel service centres while Daniel Hess, Director at Simon-Kucher and Partners, gave a presentation on pricing for value.
The discussions were followed by a site visit to wrap up the day.
A big thanks to Ricardo Silva, executive director of EUROMETAL and Thomas Niederhofer, head of Business Unit Steel at Knauf Interfer and chairman for the German-speaking SSCs for making this day happened in Neuwied.
*EUROMETAL is the European federation of steel, tubes and metal distribution and trading
Our net zero roadmap explained to peers (April 2022)
On March 17th 2022 was held the Schneider Electrics Zero Carbon Project Community Call, and this time ArcelorMittal was on the spotlight.
Annie Heaton, Corporate Sustainability Strategy and Engagement Lead, Chantal Bretton, Head Product & Business Development ArcelorMittal Downstream Solutions and Emmanuel Blin, Key Account Manager ArcelorMittal Steel Service Centres Europe, presented to more than 400 of Schneider’s partners and suppliers our achievements so far in lowering our greenhouse gas emissions and the actions we have put in place to further decarbonise the steel business under the XCarb™ initiative.
Improvement Challenge 2021 / Part 2 - ESP team have swept the awards (March 2022)
With its fully digitalised system for capturing performance data on a production line that will enable plants to dramatically reduce production losses, the ESP team is the big winner of this year’s challenge as they won the first-place award and both categories: Health, safety and environment and Operational and technological excellence.
Jean-Marc Butin, CEO ArcelorMittal SSC Europe, presented the trophies to the ESP team and to the other finalists of the SSC Improvement Challenge 2021. Congratulations to the team and to all the participants! 👏
[The challenge launched every year among all the SSC sites across Europe aims to collect innovative and practical ideas to improve procedures, tools and work environment. It gives employees the chance to share their expertise and to see their ideas implemented.]
XCarb® helps FEAG achieve its sustainability goals (Nov. 2021)
SSC improvement challenge 2021 award
The Woippy team won the Steel Service Centres, SSC improvement challenge 2021 award with the project «Configuration of a display screen on a line connected to the automation». The project – based on «the single-minute exchange of die» (Smed) method – enables improvement in tool performance and work quality by timing the change between two coils on a machine.
This is a double victory for the team, who won the operational and technical efficiency award as well as the challenge. Congratulations to the team and their project leader, Antoine Aygalenq, apprentice at SSC Woippy site.
SSC Reims welcomed 50 FFDM members (Sep. 2021)
On 30 September, Cédric Bouzar, chief executive officer, ArcelorMittal Downstream Solutions, Vincent Raimbault, SSC Reims plant manager, and Pierre-Valéry Hembise, Distribution Reims plant manager, welcomed 50 FFDM (La Fédération Française de la Distribution des Métaux) members.
Congratulations to our teams who participated in the SSC improvement and for 4 of them who won the Excellence Award.
