Yoann Caucheteux, Project Developer

Administration

What I enjoy most about my work in the industry is the ability to contribute to innovative projects that improve operational efficiency. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities, and I am passionate about applying advanced solutions to transform our work environment.

My name is Yoann Caucheteux, and I joined ArcelorMittal as an apprentice under the supervision of Mr. Anthony Meurin, Project Manager Maintenance & Technical Support BD West. I had the opportunity to work on projects focused on integrating solutions and managing obsolescence. In June 2023, I officially transitioned to the role of Project Developer. This experience has allowed me to acquire strong skills in industrial project management, particularly in optimizing operational performance, initially in maintenance management and now focused on productivity.

Can you provide an overview of the day-to-day responsibilities of your position?

In my role as Project Developer, I directly contribute to the operational excellence of the sites by leading projects that will enhance their efficiency. My daily tasks include researching and integrating RFID solutions and exploring robotic technologies, such as robot dogs and drones. I closely collaborate with the team members of Yvo Van Werde to undertake this research and development. I also participate in equally innovative projects, such as creating artificial intelligence models and developing new KPIs. My role doesn’t stop there; I also ensure that we maximize the performance of our CMMS (CARL) and our Enterprise resource planning (Qubris) by providing technical support to anyone who requests it.

For you, how does ArcelorMittal SSC Europe demonstrate its commitment to supporting professional growth and development of young talent?

ArcelorMittal SSC Europe is genuinely committed to developing young talent, and I am an example of this commitment. The company offers a rich environment full of opportunities to learn and grow, particularly through mentoring and coaching programs. Thanks to managers like Mr. Meurin, I have been able to get involved in diverse projects from the start, allowing me to apply my technical skills while developing professionally. ArcelorMittal also encourages innovation and initiative-taking, which is essential for the growth of young professionals.

What advice would you give to people who want to work as Project Developers?

For those aspiring to become Project Developers, I recommend developing strong project management skills and always staying abreast of new technologies. It’s essential to be able to work in a team and to understand the needs of each stakeholder. Adaptability is also key, as every project comes with its own set of unique challenges. Finally, do not underestimate the importance of being present on the field. To determine if a project is worthwhile to implement, one must confront the reality and challenges faced by everyone involved.

What do you enjoy most about working in the industry?

What I enjoy most about my work in the industry is the ability to contribute to innovative projects that improve operational efficiency. Working on researching and integrating these solutions is particularly stimulating. I also appreciate collaborating with teams committed to these projects, making these tools more accessible and effective. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities, and I am passionate about applying advanced solutions to transform our work environment.
