Eline Vangeel, HR Responsible

I’m Eline Vangeel, and I work since 2022 for the company. I am working in Geel, one of the Steel Service Centres in Belgium. Since 2 years and a half, I’m the HR responsible for the 2 plants.

What motivated you to join ArcelorMittal Group?

The contacts I had during my appliance for this role were very positive. A lot of challenges but a lot of opportunities as well. In a role within HR, you do not need a specific background. But, as a psychologist, it was the human part that convinced me to join. There is a lot of room for own ideas and creativity to do the tasks.

Can you provide an overview of the day-to-day responsibilities of your position?

Every day presents a unique set of tasks, which is the most enjoyable aspect of my job. There is a lot of diversity in my responsibilities, ranging from ensuring the accuracy of payroll to creating and adjusting a realistic budget on a quarterly basis. Additionally, negotiating with unions is another important aspect of my role. In between these activities, I am responsible for recruiting new employees, implementing initiatives to create a great workplace, and managing administrative tasks.

How does AM SSC ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace across different departments and functions?

Within ArcelorMittal, you are rewarded for your commitment and knowledge, willingness to learn and motivation to work. You can create your own chances and each person is important. Mutual respect goes without saying. That’s, I think, the most important. Whatever function you have, whatever background you have,… everybody has the same contribution and we respect and care for each other!

Any advice for people who want to join AM SSC?

Just join us if you have ambition and seek to work for a big company with familiar values. “You can be who you wanne be”. During your career in ArcelorMittal, you can adapt in multiple functions. My colleagues today have a lot of experience and worked in different functions or some even as an expat in another country. If you search a challenging job in a fascinating company, you must join us!

I do not have the most exiting quotes. But just be yourself, be respectful and treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. Go with the flow, embrace change and be creative.
